Garnet L. Leedy, 97, Barnard, MO, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at a hospital in St. Joseph, MO.
Garnet was born on September 16, 1917, in Barnard, Missouri. She was the daughter of Frank and Minnie (Dunn) Dougan. She lived all her life in the area.
On January 18, 1936, Garnet married John Leedy, in Savannah, MO. She and her husband were lifelong farmers. They were married 54 years before his death in 1990.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mildred Weir, five brothers, Ray Purviance, Farrell, Harold, Byrl, and Herschel Dougan.
Garnet was a member of the Barnard Methodist Church, Jolly 17ers, and the Ladies Auxiliary.
Her survivors include her 3 daughters, Marlyn (Philip) McGeorge, Barnard, MO, Melba Mier, and Kay Conrad, both of St. Joseph, MO; a brother James Dougan, Ravenwood, MO; 5 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville. The burial will follow in the Barnard American Legion Cemetery, Barnard, MO.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Barnard Methodist Church.
