Paul F. Mitchell

Mr. Paul F. Mitchell, 89, of Maryville, MO passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014, at his home in Maryville.

Paul was born in Maryville, MO, on June 19, 1925; his parents were Vern and Florence (Kinney) Mitchell and preceded him in death.

He attended Lasher country school and graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1943.

After high school Paul joined the US Army and was sent to Fort Leavenworth for basic training. He received his training at Fort Belvoir, VA with the 259th Engineer Combat division. After a short stay at Pearl Harbor, he was sent to the Japanese Islands. After the war he returned and farmed with his parents west of Maryville, and held multiple jobs around the area.

In 1948, he married Betty Darlene Porter who preceded him in death.
In 1964, he married Doris Darlene Hurst and she also preceded him in death. Then in 1981, he married Lois Shrubshell and she passed away in 2000.

He was preceded in death by his step son Gary Shrubshell in 2005.
Paul was a member of the O’Howell-Strader Legion Post #102, Barnard, MO. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He retired after many years as the Superintendent of the Maryville Water Department.

Survivors include his daughter Paula (Lon) Guthrie, Maryville, MO, step daughter, Karla (Doyle) Bounds, Albany, MO; step son, Ed “Don” Shrubshell, Columbia, MO; seven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren,

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at the White Oak Cemetery, Pickering, MO. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO, before the services. Military Rites will be performed at the cemetery by American Legion Post 102.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the O’Howell-Strader American Legion Post 102, Barnard, MO.
