Edna C. Schafer, 76, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at her home with her family at her side.

Edna was born on March 6, 1938 in Maryville to A.A. and Eunice (Miller) Madden, who preceded her in death. She was preceded by her husband, Robert Schafer (1989); her daughter, Anita Schafer (1983); her son, Michael Schafer (1991), and by siblings Gerald Madden, Don Madden, Jim Madden, and Patricia Wilmes.

A lifelong resident of the Maryville area, Edna graduated from Ravenwood High School. She was a faithful member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church and was a member of the Rockford Community Club. Edna loved to knit, cook, bake and spend time with family. She was formerly employed at Kawasaki, in Maryville, and the Smokehouse Restaurant, in Graham.

On February 23, 1957, Edna was united in marriage to Robert Schafer at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Maryville, MO.

Edna is survived by her children, Carolyn Schafer, Steven (Sara) Schafer, Lori (Stan) Kelleigh, Sharon (David) Miller, and Samuel Schafer, daughter in law, Mary Schafer; her siblings, Martha (Bob) Pope, Carole (Byron) Duke, Mary Coleman, Barb (Jerry) O’Connell, Ken (Carol) Madden, Ellen (Jim) Bolger, sister in law Connie Madden, and brother in law, Bill Wilmes; grandchildren, Tyler (Joel) Oliver, Luke Schafer, Dyllan Schafer, Nick Schafer, Allison Schafer, Garrett Miller, Ethan Miller, and Matt Wisdom; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her four-legged friend, Gizzy.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville. The burial will follow in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Maryville, MO.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM, Friday, September 12, 2014, at the church, with visitation to follow from 7-9:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the SSM Hospice of NW Missouri or the Heartland Clinic Cancer Center, Maryville facility.

Services are under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
