John H. Pistole

John Henry Pistole, 93, passed away Friday, July 18, 2014, at his home in Hopkins, MO, with his family by his side. John had been lovingly cared for by his wife, family, and SSM Hospice of NW Missouri.

Born on September 1, 1920, near Hopkins to Lena (Blake) and Ave Pistole, he was a 1930 graduate of Hopkins High School and a loyal member of the First Baptist Church in Hopkins.

On June 22, 1949, he was united in marriage to Edith Jean Browning in Maryville, MO. To this union two children were born, Wesley and Janyne.

Mr. Pistole served his country during World War II from 1942 to 1946 in the European theater. John was a teletype operator preforming duties in message centers in the First and Seventh Army in Germany, sending and receiving codes and clear-text messages.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale and Charley, sister, Elizabeth Tribolet; grandson, Nicholas Leland and great-grandson, Hagen Leland.

He is survived by his wife Edith, of the home; son, Wesley (Marla), Hopkins, MO; daughter, Janyne (Robert) Leland, Evanston, WY; sister, Darlene Andrews, Hopkins; 4 grandsons; 4 step grandsons; 6 great grandsons; two great granddaughters; and 1 great-great grandson.
John will be sadly missed by the large community of relatives and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the SSM Hospice of NW Missouri, 1912 S. Main, Maryville, MO.
