Mary (Lundy) Cordell

Mary Alice Lundy Cordell, 83, Maryville, formerly of Indianola, IA and Taylor County, IA, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at her home.

She was born June 5, 1930, east of Sidney, IA to Earl Cecil Lundy and Elsie Jane Cook Lundy. She married Forrest Robert Cordell at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville.

She earned her teaching certificate from Simpson College, Indianola, IA and taught at rural Iowa schools. She retired from the State of Iowa.

She was active in the Red Hat Society, Nodaway County Senior Center and volunteered at Parkdale Manor.

She is preceded in death by her parents; older siblings, Ora Ann Davis, William Hoyt Lundy, Velma June Boyd and Ava Mae Vohs; two grandsons, Caleb David Luke Stille and Trad Leroy Stille.

Survivors include her children: Dorothy Jane Helgason and husband, Steve; Mickey Jo Prettyman and husband, Basil; Robert “Bo” Alvin Cordell; Roger Alan Cordell and Deb; grandchildren: Jared Lewis Stille and wife, Sary; Nathan Adam Prettyman and wife, Jessie; Tyler Joseph Prettyman and Brianna; Andrea Lanore Nash, RoseMary Renee McCown and husband, Don; Cody Robert Cordell; 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

An open book registration will be from 9 am to 5 pm, Thursday, May 29 at the funeral home.

Inurnment will be at the Thurman, IA cemetery at 3:00 pm, Friday, May 30, 2014.

Memorials may be made to Asera Care Hospice of Savannah, Missouri.
