William R. Wilkinson

William Russell (Bill/Red) Wilkinson, 90, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of Grant City, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on January 10, 2014, in Maryville.

Bill was born on March 31, 1923, in Allendale, MO. His parents were Bertie Everett and Opal Viola (Warner) Wilkinson; they preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by an infant son; a grandson, Timothy Daniel Parman; and 5 brothers, Rex, Ray, Ralph, Ross, and Park Wilkinson. Bill was baptized and a member of the Christian Church in Grant City, MO. He was a member of the James Edward Gray, American Legion Post 100, Maryville, MO. Bill loved to trap shoot and was a member of both the Missouri Trap Shooters Assn. and the National Trap Shooters Assn. He also loved to fish and hunt.

He was honorably discharged as a US Army veteran who served in the Korean War.

On December 7, 1950, Bill was united in marriage to Betty Lucille Frazier at the Albany Christian Church. They have resided in Maryville the past 10 years and previously lived in Grant City. They lived in other areas as Bill pursued his career as a heavy equipment mechanic through the Operating Engineers Local 101, St. Joseph, MO.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; three daughters, Pam (Dan) Parman, Denver, MO, Carolyn (Mike) Hardy, Maryville, MO, and Linda Guess, Maryville, MO; grandchildren, Keven Parman and Jayla, Kortnee (Cody) Blankenship, Tonya Hardy, Tony (Amy) Hardy, Tylor (Allison) Hardy, Ryan Guess, Keaton Guess, Jaclyn Guess, and Aislinn Johnson; great grandchildren, Tanner and Wyatt Parman, Addison and Bella Blankenship, Colton and Paige Hardy, and Milo Hardy; one sister, Auda (Eddie) Costin, Grant City, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wilkinson has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Health Hands of Hope Hospice.

Private family memorial service will at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at the Allendale Missouri Cemetery.

Military services at the cemetery will be by members of the Missouri Military Honors Detail, and members of the James Edward Gray, American Legion Post 100, Maryville, MO.
