Anita Shell, 78, of Maryville, MO, passed from this life on Friday, January 3, 2014, in Maryville.
Anita was born in Maryville, MO, on January 25, 1935. Her parents were Audra and Edith Viola (Baker) Williams. She had lived most all her life in the Maryville area.
Anita was a graduate of the Horace Mann High School, and took classes at Northwest Missouri State Teacher College, both of Maryville, MO. On December 4, 1951, Anita was united in marriage at the Maryville First Christian Church, to Raymond Marshall Shell. Raymond passed away on March 13, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Anita was a member and attended the First Christian Church, Maryville, MO. A member of the Maryville Chapter of the D.A.R.; volunteered for the American Red Cross; and had spent time volunteering with the cleanup after Hurricane Katrina, in Louisiana. She had worked at the family service station, doing the books for 56 years.
Anita loved to play bridge; she loved traveling, and was a world traveler. She loved fishing in Canada; had sailed to Alaska, been to Europe, to China, spent many summers in the Ozarks, Hawaii, and recently been to New England.
Left to mourn her passing are her children, Deborah Shell, Overland Park, KS, Sheila (Paul) Christiansen, Overland Park, KS, and Marshall (Cara) Shell, Maryville, MO; brother, Audra L. “Bud” and Bonnie Jean (Bowman) Williams, Iowa City, IA; 5 grandchildren, Carri Schwartz, St. Joseph, MO, Jonathan Ferguson, Kansas City, MO, Trevor Shell, Megan Shell, and Trenton Shell, all of Maryville, MO; 3 great grandchildren, Parker Day Schwartz, St. Joseph, MO, Matthew Schwartz, St. Joseph, MO, and Jacob Schwartz, St. Joseph, MO; nieces and nephews, Steve Williams, Kathy Haynes, Wayne Williams, John Williams, all of Iowa; and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the First Christian Church, Maryville, MO, the minister will be Rev. Dale Stewart. The burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville, MO.
The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM, Monday, January 6, 2014, also at the Church.
