Helen B. Bright, 94, of Conception Junction, MO, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2013, at the Golden Living Center, Maryville, MO.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, 206 E. South Hills Drive, Maryville, MO, 64468. The minister will be Pastor Scott Moon. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Saturday, preceding the funeral services. The burial will be immediately following at the Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville, MO.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Bright; her parents; her sisters, Pauline Dragoo, Bertha Lee, Ruby Martin, and Ruth Kinder.
Survivors include her son Kermit D. (Mary) Bright, Holt, MO; granddaughter, Helen F. (Richard) Bridges, Kansas City, MO, grandson, Dale E. (Julie) Bright, Rayville, MO; 5 great grandchildren, Derrick and Nathan Bridges, Kansas City, MO, and John, Dillion, and Brooklyn Bright, Rayville, MO; her sister, Marie Grasty, Rayville, MO, and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was born on October 27, 1919, to Mike and Leatha (Wilson) Brown, near the township of Amity, IA. She was united in marriage to John A. Bright on August 30, 1941.
Helen had lived in her maternal home in Conception Junction, MO, since 1941. She worked at the Conception Printery for 34 years, and had retired in December 2008 at the age of 89. She had served for 42 years as Treasurer for the Jefferson C-123 School District, retiring in May of 2013.
In 2013, she retired after 41 years, as the acting Secretary for the Tri-C Housing Board, and was the only member to serve the entire existence of the board.
Helen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #464 for 66 years. She was a long time member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rosanna Chapter #262; and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Maryville, and had served as its president.
