Paul Wesley Palmer, 80, of Maryville, MO, passed away unexpectedly on November 23, 2013, at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.
Paul was born on May 7, 1933 in Baraboo, WI, to John Wesley and Anne Frances (Webb) Palmer. The family resided in Clarksdale, MO, and moved to Elmo in 1952.
He was drafted right after high school in to the US Army. He proudly served until 1955, when he was honorably discharged.
On October 4, 1953, Paul was united in marriage to Betty Marie Ray at the Pickering Christian Church, by the Rev. Delbert Dick.
Paul attended Barber College in Kansas City, MO, and worked as a barber for many years. He had worked in Elmo, MO, then several years in St. Joseph, MO, and then in Hopkins, MO.
He was a member of the Pickering Christian Church, and served as Church Deacon. He enjoyed his wood carving and was very creative with his work. He had played bass guitar for several country music bands over the years. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting; he also made knives and collected firearms.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bob W. Palmer on January 13, 2009; and his sister, Dorothy Hamilton.
Survivors include his wife Marie, of the home, Maryville, MO; his son Brian Palmer, Maryville, MO; daughter in law, Terri Palmer, Maryville, MO; sister in laws, Dixie Ray, Maryville, MO, and Daisy (Lowell) Mayes, Leander, TX; brother in law, Dale Ray, Maryville, MO; niece, Marilyn (Jerry) Cochran, Pueblo, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The minister will be Pastor Terry Robison.
The burial, with full military rites will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Ravenwood, MO.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM, Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to the family to help with expenses.
