Carol Louise Puckett, 70, Maryville, MO, passed away on Friday, November 08, 2013, at her home in Maryville.

Carol was born on May 29th 1943, at the former Martin Landfather Hospital in Maryville, MO, to Truman Wilson and Frances Louise (Maffitt) Hoshor.

She graduated in 1961 from South Nodaway High School in Barnard, MO, and later attended Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, and Missouri Western State University, in St. Joseph, MO, , majoring in Art at both universities. Her memberships included the Maryville Chapter of the Missouri Writers Guild, and her hobbies included art, working with community betterment organizations, reading, writing for “Young at Heart” in the St. Joseph NewsPress.

Carol had worked as the Dietary Manager for Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, and at Saxton’s Nursing Home in St. Joseph, MO. She worked several years in the retail industry where she retired in August of this year.

Survivors include her mother, Frances Holmes, Maryville, MO; her brother, Harvey Eugene Hoshor (wife Teena) of Ronan, MT; daughter, Sherry Lyn Gaarder, (husband Matt) of Maryville, MO; nephews Sam Hoshor, Huson, MT, and Steven Hoshor, Ronan, MT; niece, Annetta Hoshor, San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Kallie and Myles Gaarder, Maryville, MO; numerous other grandchildren, and great grandchildren; step sons, John David Puckett (wife Beverly) Independence, MO, and Ronald Dean Puckett, Kansas City, MO; and numerous cousins.

Mrs. Puckett’s body has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM, on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at the Hope Lutheran Church, Maryville, MO. The Pastor Dave Oddi will be the minister for the service.

Inurnment will be in the Barnard Masonic Cemetery, Barnard, MO.

She passed away comfortably with the assistance of SSM Hospice of NW Missouri.
