Dayle J. Shipps

Dayle Junior Shipps, 84, of Maryville, MO, passed away on Friday, November 08, 2013, at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO, after a brief illness.

Dayle was born on June 5, 1929, in Centropolis, KS to Earl and Nellie (Leuf) Shipps. They lived in Kansas and moved to this area when Dayle was 16 years old. He proudly served his country and was honorably discharged from the US Marine Corps.

On August 8, 1951, Dayle was united in marriage to Dottie Delores Joyner, in Ravenwood, MO, she passed away on August 15, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Garland Shipps.
Dayle worked for many years for the MFA in Guilford, MO.

Survivors include 2 sons, Mike (JoAnn) Shipps, Maryville, MO, and Joe (Lisa) Shipps, Maitland, MO; 2 sisters, his twin, Gayle Lamb, Elliott, IA, and JoAnn (Jerry) Peter, Maryville, MO; 4 grandchildren, Traci, Kristen, Brittany, and Sam Shipps; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 PM on Monday, November 11, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Mr. Shipps’s body will be cremated after the visitation and inurnment will be later at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Graham, MO.

Memorials are suggested to the MFA Foundation Scholarship Fund, for local students, and can be left at the funeral home.
