Helga K. Sponaugle

Helga Karolina Sponaugle, 61, of Conception Junction, MO, passed away from cancer on October 30, 2013, at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO.

Helga was born on November 8, 1951 in Herzogenaurach,Germany, to Johann and Ursula (Weis) Krapp.

She was educated in Germany and came to the United States in 1973.

Helga provided childcare for many children in the community, and has worked the past 21 years as the Kitchen Manager for the Conception Abbey, Conception, MO.

She was a member and attended the St. Columba Catholic Church, Conception Junction, MO, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Hans Krapp, and Otmar Krapp, a sister, Rita Krapp.

She is survived by her children, Nikki (John) Carter, Maryville, MO, Gretchen (Jared) McQueen, Conception Junction, MO, Rainer (Robyn) Sponaugle, Savannah, MO, and Gitti (Jeff) Davis, Barnard, MO. Her siblings, Brigite Pelzl, Rainer Krapp, Karin Krapp, Margot Korner, Dieter Krapp, Sigrid Roggisch, all of Germany; 7 grandsons, Jimmy and Nate Carter, Spencer, Trevor, Brandon, Aiden, and Griffin McQueen; and 2 granddaughters, Madelyn and Khloe Sponaugle; the father of their children, Jack Sponaugle, Asheville, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:00 AM, Saturday, November 2, 2013, in the Basicila at the Conception Abbey, Conception, MO. The burial will be in the St. Columba Cemetery, also of Conception.

A parish and family rosary will be at 6:00 PM, Friday, November 1, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO, with visitation to
follow until 8:00 PM.
