Helen M. Ward, 83, of Maryville, MO, passed away Friday, July 19, 2013, at the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville.

Helen was born February 25, 1930, in Platteville, IA, to Harvey D. and Marie Agnes (Laub) Drennen. They preceded her in death, she was also preceded by her husband Paul in 2012; brothers, Donald and Charles; and sister, Betty; sister in laws, Marilyn and Zelma; and brother in laws, Jack and Bob. She lived all her life in the area.

Helen was a caregiver, having worked at St. Francis Hospital in the 1950’s. She worked at the Fairfax Community Hospital in the 1960’s and 70’s. Later she worked in all the nursing homes in the Maryville area. She had also worked at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville for a number of years. She attended the Burlington Junction United Methodist Church, Burlington Junction, MO.

Helen loved to cook and work in her flower gardens. She enjoyed her family and all the grandchildren.

On November 17, 1946, Helen was united in marriage to Paul D. Ward, in Elmo, MO. To this union 4 children were born; 3 daughters, Becky (Lonnie) Kuhns, Rock Port, MO, Terry Masterson, Colorado Springs, CO, Cindy (Jim) Stevens, Alpena, MI, 1 son, Ed (Cathy) Ward, Cameron, MO; her grandchildren, Rhonda Gayler, Jeff Kuhns, Jason and Sara Smith, Adam, Jared, and Amanda Ward, Nathan and Dustin Stevens, Ashley Travis; great grandchildren, Kyle and Brett Gayler, Justin and Jordan Kuhns, Christopher Masterson, Kelli and Codi Stevens, Allie and Reed Travis, Kaitlin Ward; 2 brothers, Sam Drennen, and Bobbie Drennen; sister in laws, Joyce Drennen, and Nancy Ward; also her extended family at Golden Living Center, Maryville, MO, and numerous and nieces.

Mrs. Ward has been cremated. Her memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, July 27, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. No formal visitation is planned.

Memorials are suggested to the Helen Ward Memorial Fund, and will sent to a charity to be determined. Donations can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
