Robert Donald Sharp, 65, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of Kansas City, MO., passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Maryville.
Robert was born on October 24, 1947, in Leavenworth, KS. He was raised in Barnard, MO, and was a 1965 graduate of South Nodaway High School. He later received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, with emphasis on accounting in 1974, from Missouri Western State University, in St. Joseph, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Velma (Hilsabeck) Sharp; 2 sisters, Sue Stanton, and Cheryl Morriss; a niece, Jodee Stanton, and a nephew, Walt Stanton.
Robert served his country from 1966 to 1970 in the US Air Force, and was honorably discharges as an E-5. He was a member of the O’Howell-Strader American Legion Post 102, Barnard, MO and held many Post, District and State offices, and appointments with the National Office, all with the American Legion
Robert had worked many years and retired from the Missouri Division of Employment Security and had also held various jobs with the US Government, all in Kansas City, MO. He retired in 2005.
His is survived by his sister, Joyce Andrews, Maryville, MO; nephews, Jim Andrews, Jeff Andrews, Jay Andrews, Ed Stanton, Jon Stanton, Karl Morris and Richard Morris, and nieces, Barbara Wellman, and Sherri Morris.
Visitation will be held from 1-3:00 PM, Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Cremation will be completed following the visitation. Inurnment will be later at the National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the National MS Society, or to the South Nodaway Scholarship Fund, Barnard, MO.
