Dale Stanton Florea, 89, of Maryville, MO, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 11, 2013 following a lengthy illness.

Dale was born on April 6, 1924, in Nodaway County, near Pickering, MO, to Delbert and Alma (Massie) Florea. He worked in construction and was a licensed electrician and plumber. He was employed by the City of Maryville, MO, as the building inspector until he retired. He volunteered for several years with the Maryville Fire Department and as a volunteer for Nodaway County Ambulance in the early 1970’s.

In WW II, Dale proudly served his country in the US Army. He was wounded in combat and still carried shrapnel in his body. He received 2 purple hearts for his wounds.

On April 6, 1947, Dale was united in marriage with Darlene Howard, she preceded him in death in 2012.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Dale Florea, in 1994; his granddaughter, Tara Florea in 1988; his great granddaughter, Elli Reed in 2008; his brothers, Howard and Milo Florea; and sister, Wilma Morgan.

His memberships included the Nodaway Masonic Lodge #470, AF & AM, and the James Edward Gray, American Legion Post 100, both of Maryville, MO.

He is survived by his children, Linda (Gary) Grasty, Clarinda, IA, Nancy (Eldon) Lewis, Maryville, MO, Shirley (David) Reed, Burlington Junction, MO, and Bill (Kim) Florea, Maryville, MO.
His is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Florea has been cremated and his memorial service will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 14, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Long Branch Cemetery, Gaynor, MO.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services Friday, at the funeral home.
