Kathleen May Collins 86, Hopkins, MO, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2013, at her Daughter’s home near Conception Junction, MO, with her family at her side.

Kathleen was born on May 6, 1927, near Alberta, Canada. She resided many years in Monticello, MN, and then moved to a farm NW of Hopkins, MO in 1966.

Her parents were Marion E. and Daisy (Powelson) Robinson. She graduated Salutatorian from the Monticello High School, Monticello, MN, and then received her Teaching Degree from St. Cloud State College, St. Cloud, MN. She taught in a rural school district in the Monticello, MN area. She later attended NWMSU in Maryville, MO.

Besides teaching, she had worked at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville, MO, and the Maryville Public Library. She also worked and did genealogy at the Nodaway County Historical Society, Maryville.
She also helped her husband Richard with the farm operation.

On December 27, 1950, in Monticello, MN, Kathleen was united in marriage to Richard G. Collins. After 61 years of marriage he passed away on January 6, 2011. She was also preceded by her parents; her son in law, Marvin Miller, and a niece, Mary Jane Robinson.

She was a member and attended the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, and the Prairie Star Community Club, both of Hopkins, MO, and was a 4-H Leader in North Nodaway 4-H Club. She had taught Sunday school in Minnesota and Hopkins.

She enjoyed her family and friends; gardening, quilting, knitting, crocheting, reading, and writing cards and letters.

Left to mourn her passing are her children, James (Carolyn) Collins, Bedford, IA, Carmen Larabee, Maryville, MO, Georgia Miller, Lenox, IA, Joan (Martin) Hemenway, Rogers, AR, and Carol (Allen) Hersh, Conception Junction, MO; 3 brothers, Robert (Elizabeth) Robinson, Long Prairie, MN, Donald E. Robinson, Oelwein, IA, Gerald (Carol) Robinson, Waterloo, IA, and sister, Meryl LaSorsa, Georgetown, TX; 8 grandchildren, Jeremiah (Julie) Larabee, Jedidiah Larabee, Brandie Miller, Suzanne Sulzer, Cody (Meghan) Hersh, Jacklyn Hersh, Collin Hemenway, and Jullian Hemenway; 2 great grandchildren, Madison Larabee, and Colton Larabee; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, Hopkins, MO. The burial will be in the Shearer Cemetery, Braddyville, IA.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the SSM Hospice of NW Missouri, or to the Wray Memorial United Methodist Church, or the Laura Street Baptist Church.

Services are under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
