Russell F. Coleman, 88, of Grant City, MO, and formerly of Hopkins, MO, passed from this life on Friday, April 5, 2013, at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO.
Russell was born on February 17, 1925, in Hopkins, to Lew and Lola (Gray) Coleman, he lived in that area until moving to a farm northwest of Grant City in 1959.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bob, Raymond, Floyd (Skinny) and Sherman (Bill) Coleman; and his sisters, Dorothy Kellogg and Maxine Morrison.
Russell proudly served his country during the Korean conflict in the US Army.
Russell was a retired self-employed farmer, and had been a member of the Grant City, MO, American Legion Post #92.
On February 3, 1954, in Ravenwood, MO, Russell was united in marriage to Vivian Marie Auten, she survives of the home.
Other survivors include his daughter, Carlotta (Corky) and husband, Bo DeMott, Sheridan, MO; grandsons, Bradie and wife, Valerie Demott, and Cory DeMott, both of Grant City, MO, and Derry DeMott, Sheridan, MO; 2 sisters, Mary Brand, Ravenwood, MO, and Betty Hardee, Belton, MO; 2 great grandsons, Jake and Jared Simmons, brother in law, Raymond Morrison, and sister in law, Doris Coleman; and very special nieces and nephews who were all very near and dear to him.
Memorial graveside services and inurnment will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Hopkins Cemetery, Hopkins, MO.
Services are under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
