Henry Harold Crossland

Henry Harold Crossland, 89, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of Butler, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Nodaway Nursing Home, Maryville.

Harold was born on February 8, 1923, in Rich Hill, MO. His parents were Clyde Carroll and Mary (Petty) Crossland, and preceded him in death. He was also preceded by William Isaac Crossland (brother) and Maureen (Crossland) Linard (sister).

Harold was a graduate of Rich Hill High School class of 1941.

On April 15, 1943, Harold entered the US Navy. He was a Signalman aboard USS LST 137 during the June 6, 1944, D-Day landings at Utah Beach in France. He was honorably discharged on April 23, 1946.

Harold married Helen Juanita Herman on November 1, 1945.

His memberships included the Ohio Street Methodist Church, Butler, MO, VFW, and Bass Masters.

Harold worked as an insurance representative with the Prudential Insurance Company
in Bates County; retiring in 1979.

His survivors include Barry Ross Crossland (son) and Rebecca Ann Baker (daughter).

Mr. Crossland has been cremated under the direction of the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. A memorial graveside service and celebration, with Military Honors, will be held in the spring at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler, MO. Date to be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Ohio Street Methodist Church, 205 W. Ohio St. Butler, MO. 64730.
