David S. (Dave) Staples 67, of Maryville, MO, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013, at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO.
Dave was born on July 22, 1945, in Maryville, MO, to Edwin E. and Dorothy M. (Walker) Staples. He was a lifelong resident of this area. His parents preceded him in death.
Dave was a 1963 graduate of the Maryville High School and had attended Northwest Missouri State University, also of Maryville. He was the store manager of the former Thomas Market until that store sold, and later retired as the Wonder Bread driver in the Maryville area for many years. He loved playing and later watching Softball, and once pitched a no-hitter. He enjoyed working on his Ford Model A.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and always had a smile on his face and a friendly hello for everyone.
On June 10, 1972, Dave was united in marriage to Rita G. Tunell at the First Christian Church in Maryville, MO, she survives of the home in Maryville.
Other survivors include his 3 sons, Shawn (Holly) Staples, Nathan (Shawn) Staples, and Shannon Staples, all of Maryville, MO; 2 brothers, Edwin (Shirley) Staples, Mound City, MO, and Gary (Linda) Staples, Nebraska City, NE; 7 grandchildren, Cameron and Krista Staples, Bryce Farlin, Chase, Tayden, Brody, and Koleby Staples; brother and sister in laws, Marilyn (Jim) Wright, Denver, CO, Karen (Larry) Farrens, Deloris (Gary) Proffit, Kirby (Jennifer) Tunell, Roger (Cindy) Tunell, all of Maryville, MO, Gary (LuAnn) Tunell, Dallas, TX, Mike Tunell, Batesville, MS; 2 aunts, Donna Jean Sallee, Chariton, IA, and Ester Barr, Oklahoma; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 17, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO, Rev. Cub Orcutt will be the minister. Cremation will be completed after the funeral service and the inurnment of cremains will be later at the Ohio Cemetery, Burlington Junction, MO.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home.
