Colleen Denise Weiss

Denise Weiss 66, of Maitland, MO, died on Wednesday, October 24, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital in Lees Summit, MO. She was born on February 7, 1946, to Steward and Florna Felker of Stroudsburg, PA.

Mrs. Weiss, or “Mama Weiss" as many of her students knew her was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and teacher.

She was a math teacher, and began inspiring young minds in 1968, in Tarkio, MO. She then taught at Nodaway Holt, Maryville High School, and finally retired from Northwest Missouri State University in 2012, after 22 years of service. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints.

Denise took great joy in her family, she loved cooking for her family, students, and welcomed many into her home. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren, flowers and pets. She was preceded in death by her parents.

On June 30, 1968, Denise was united in marriage to Barry K. Weiss in Stroudsburg, PA, he survives of the home in Maitland.

Other survivors include her children, David, and wife Julie Weiss, Maryville, MO, Sean Weiss, Columbia, MO, and Megan, and husband Clancy Dayley, Rexburg, ID; 3 grandchildren, Rachael, Connor, and Katie Weiss, of Maryville; and many other “adopted” children.

There will be a visitation from 5-7 PM Saturday, October 27, 2012, at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 28, 2012, at the funeral home. The burial will be in the Groves Cemetery, Skidmore, MO.
