Laverne Richard (Coke) Archer 77, of Fairfax, MO passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO.
Coke was born in Maitland, MO on June 11, 1934 to Earl Richard and Minnie Ruth (Adams) Archer. He had been a resident of the Mound City and Fairfax areas most all his life.
Coke had been employed by several farmers over the years and had also worked for Abie Showalter Farms and Auctioneering of Craig, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Leon, and another brother at birth; and a grandchild.
Survivors include his children, Diana Gorges, Joplin, MO, Tina Smith, Englewood, FL, Christina Hatfield, Pittsburg, KS, Lisa Edwards, Pittsburg, KS, and Delby Archer, Des Moines, IA; 4 sisters, Lavon Smail, Maryville, MO, Elva (Polly) Hosfiel Maryville, MO, Ruth Kooken, Mesa, AZ, Mary Dow, Mesa AZ; and 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Coke’s wish was to be cremated, his memorial service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 24, 2012, at the First Baptist Church, at the corner of Jenkins and Market Streets, Maryville, MO. Inurnment will be at the Maitland Cemetery, Maitland, MO. Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO is in charge of arrangements.
