Lawrence M. (Larry) Guthrie 58, of Maryville, MO passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO.

Larry was born in Keokuk, IA on June 21, 1953 and had lived most of his life in the Maryville area. His parents were William Marion and Elma Lucille (Lawrence) Guthrie. Larry was preceded in death by his father in 1990, and his mother in December of 2011.

Larry was a 1971 graduate of Maryville High School and had attended Northwest Missouri State University. He worked for several years at Northwest and recently retired as a corrections officer with the State of Missouri Department of Corrections.

His memberships included the First United Methodist Church, Maryville, the Stanberry Masonic Lodge #109, AF & AM, Stanberry, MO, the York Rite Bodies, Valley of St. Joseph. Larry loved to go camping, was a Civil War enthusiast, and had participated in many Civil War re-enactments.

Survivors include his sister, Linda A. Gray, White House, TN, brother, Lon and wife Paula Guthrie, Maryville, MO; niece, Kristin and husband James Rucker, Hopkins, MO, two nephews, Paul Guthrie, Union, MO, and Bill Gray, White House, TN.

Graveside services and burial will be at 2:00 PM Friday, March 9, 2012 at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Maryville, MO, Pastor Scott Moon will be the officiant. No formal visitation is planned, but friends may stop by the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home after 9:00 AM Thursday.
