Lodema Iona Plymell

February 4, 1916 — October 15, 2011

Lodema Iona Brownfield Plymell 95, of Burlington Junction, MO, was born in Farragut , Iowa on February 4, 1916 to James William and Bertha Gertrude Inlow Brownfield.

Lodema was a talented musician, teaching herself to play banjo and guitar, later she and her sister Edna would travel to Shenandoah to sing on radio station KMA. Her love of music continued for all of her 95 years. She passed away peacefully Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the Golden Living Center, Maryville, MO.

On June 13, 1938, she married the love of her life, Olen Plymell in Rock Port, MO, they shared 70 year together, living for the most part in the Burlington Junction, MO area, until his death on January 3, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Ilene Yates in 2003, her grandchildren, Russel Graham and Terri Carver, and by her brothers and sisters, Elmer, Harley, Jim, Everett, Howard, Mabel Heard, and Edna Nuckolls.

She was an excellent cook, loved to plant huge gardens, and canned or would freeze large quantities of fruits and vegetables. She also loved to sew, producing many last minute outfits for holidays, costumes, and school functions. She was an artist and loved to sketch outdoor scenes.

Lodema was a Nurses Aid at St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, MO for over 25 years.

Those left to keep her spirit alive are her son, Rex (Connie) Plymell, Burlington Junction, MO, her daughters, Juanita (Robert) Carroll, College Springs, IA, and Linda Baker, Maryville, MO; grandchildren, Galen Graham, Faye Pierpoint, Cindy Wurm, Cathy Burnett, Justin Plymell, Lindsay Fast, Kim Grebert, Kristi Hackett, Lisa Leader, and Kelly Baker; 16 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren; a brother George Brownfield, Sidney, IA, and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at the United Methodist Church, Burlington Junction, MO. The burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery, also of Burlington Junction. The body will arrive at the church one hour prior to services.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Monday, October 17, 2011 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church, or the Ohio Cemetery, both of Burlington Junction, MO.
