Spud Puckett

Mr. M.L. (Spud) Puckett 89, of Maryville, MO passed away Friday, October 7, 2011 at Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO.

Spud was born in Drover, KS on June 19, 1922 to Ralph Sylvester and Vida Marie Puckett, they preceded him death, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Helen Lemore James in 1973, his son, Marion Eugene Puckett in 1998, and by his siblings Marguerite, Donna, Jimmy, Bill, and Cory Madera.

Spud moved to the Maryville area 70 years ago from Kansas, he worked as an attendant for many years at the Gray Oil & Gasoline Company. Spud enjoyed visiting with his friends at the morning coffee group at Hy-Vee.

On October 9, 1942 Spud joined the Army Air Corp and served during World War II.

Survivors include his two sons, John David (Beverly) Puckett, Independence, MO and Ronald Eugene Puckett, Independence, MO. daughter, Sherry (Matt) Gaarder, Maryville, MO. His brothers and sisters, George (Pat) Puckett, St. Joseph, MO, Larry (Phyllis) Puckett, St. Joseph, MO, Hubert (Karen) Puckett, Branson, MO, Raymond (Katie)Puckett, St. Joseph, MO, Jerry (Jodie) Puckett, St. Joseph, MO, Curtis Puckett, St. Joseph, MO, Annie Carol Thompson, St. Joseph, MO, Joyce Moss, St. Joseph, MO, Robert Puckett, Troy, KS, and Connie Davis, Kansas City, MO., and his longtime companion, Linda Pearce, Maryville, MO. His is also survived by 12 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 5-7:00 P.M. Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 7:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home, the Pastor Dave Oddi will be the officiant.

Cremation will take place after the funeral service with interment at a later date in the Nodaway Memorial Gardens, Maryville.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
