Mr. Leon Combs 82, of Savannah, MO and formerly of the Maryville, MO area, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at his home in Savannah.
Leon was born on July 7, 1929 in Maryville, MO to Lee Ralph and Vera Blacketer Combs, they preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his twin brother Lee, at birth, and by his daughter, Vera Emily Combs, on October 25, 1978.
Leon was a heavy equipment operator for over 20 years in northwest Missouri. He then worked at Northwest Missouri State University for 16 years, first in Security, then retired from the power plant. He was of the Christian faith.
On November 29, 1950, Leon was united in marriage to Esther Rebecca (Becky) Carroll, they were married in the home of Rev. L.B. Day in Maryville, MO.
In 1951, Leon was drafted into the U.S. Army, 3rd Division and served his county during the Korean War. He then spent several years in the Army Reserves, and was honorably discharged in 1959.
Survivors include wife, Esther (Becky) Combs of the home, his son, Leslie (Eva) Combs, Maryville, MO, his grandson, Mike (Shelley) Combs, Pickering, MO, granddaughter, Wendy Combs, Maryville, MO, his great granddaughter, Taylor Combs, Pickering, MO, and numerous nieces and nephew.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 20, 2011 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, the burial will be in the Swinford Cemetery, Arkoe, MO.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the funeral home.
