Mark Bryan Wiley 57 of Independence, MO passed away unexpectedly Monday July 25, 2011 at his home in Independence.

Mark was born in Bellingham, WA on October 10, 1953 to Edward Dale “E.D.” and Esther Jean Hall Wiley. Formerly of Maryville and Kansas City, MO, Mark had lived in Independence for the past 8 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Jacob Bryan Wiley on March 24, 2005.

Mark graduated from West Nodaway High School, Burlington Junction, MO in 1972. He earned his B.S. and Master’s degrees from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville, MO. He was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity at Northwest.

He attended Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Kansas City, MO, was a member of the Bearcat Booster Club, United Methodist Men, and the Cursillo Community. He organized and led fundraising events for Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, MO, in honor of his son, Jacob.

Mark’s survivors include his wife Christi Wiley of the home in Independence, his daughter, Jaci (Alvah) Newman, Kansas City, MO, his stepdaughter, Lindsay Thompson, Buckner, MO, grandchildren, Chase and Jaylen Newman, Kansas City, MO, and his step granddaughter, Jordyn Atagi, Buckner, MO. He is also survived by his four siblings, Marlene (Keith) Mowry, Severence, KS, Kurby Edward (Linda) Wiley, Buford, GA, Patricia Elaine (Al) Latah, Kansas City, MO, Anita Marie (Mark) Dickey, Overland Park, KS, and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, July 29, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church, Maryville, MO. The burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery, Pickering, MO. Pastor Scott Moon will be the officiant.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Chase and Jaylen Newman Education Fund at Bank Midwest, 402 N. Main, Maryville, MO 64468.

Mark was known for his charming personality, generosity, and great stories. He was an avid Bearcat enthusiast.
