Vancil D. Icke 83, of Barnard, MO passed away, Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO.
Vancil was born near Barnard, MO on November 19, 1927 to Delbert and Thelma DuBois Icke, they preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Reggie Simerly, and a great granddaughter, Emma Simbro.
A self employed electrician, he had owned and operated Icke Electric in Barnard. Vancil was a member of the Barnard Christian Church, and also a member of the Tri-C American Legion Post #464, Conception Junction, MO. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II, and lived in the Barnard area most all of his life.
On September 2, 1983, Vancil was united in marriage to Joyce E. Brownfield in Barnard, she survives of the home.
Other survivors include his son, David and wife Natalie Icke, Savannah, MO, two step-children, Mark and wife Joy Beattie, Bolckow, MO, and Malinda and husband Dale Dennis, Maryville, MO. He is also survived by a sister Marceline Simerly, St. Joseph, MO, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a niece.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Barnard Christian Church, the body will arrive at the church one hour prior to services. Rev. Pat Sampson is the officiant. Burial will be in the American Legion Cemetery, Barnard, MO with full military honors.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Friday, May 27, 2011 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
