Robert Leo Stiens

Mr. Robert Leo Stiens 82, of Maryville, MO, and formerly of Skidmore, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 01, 2011, in Lee’s Summit, MO.

Robert was born in Maryville on August 14, 1928, to Frederick Henry and Helen Margaret Growney, he lived most all of his life in the area. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Donald Stiens, Ronald Stiens, and Charles Stiens, a sister, Mary Lou Welch, and his grandson, Eli Stiens.

A Korean War Veteran, Robert served in the U.S. Army in the Medical Corps.

Robert was a lifelong member of the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville. He retired from farming.

On November 10, 1953, Robert married Dorothy Eileen Luther in Maryville, she survives of the home.

Other survivors include his children, Stephen (Susan) Stiens, Skidmore, MO, Gregory Stiens, Maryville, MO, Teresa Schneider, Lee’s Summit, MO, Loretta Stiens, Independence, MO, and Kara (Michael) Garlick, Kansas City, MO. He is also survived by brothers, and sisters, Paul Stiens, Maryville, MO, Harold Stiens, Maryville, MO, Ellen Gallagher, Maryville, MO, Rita Schieber, Stillwell, KS, Carylon Farnan, Maryville, MO, and Rose Meyer, Maryville, MO, 11 grandchildren, six great granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday, March 4, 2011, at the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville, the burial will be in the Maitland Missouri Cemetery. The family will receive from 5-7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville. A Parish and family rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
Military rites at the cemetery will be conducted by members of the American Legion.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, or the St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Maryville.
