Irene B. Bennett 76, of Savannah, MO, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011 at the Heartland Hospital in St. Joseph, MO with her family by her side.
Born on August 26, 1934 near Clearmont, MO, she was a lifelong resident of Northwest Missouri, and spent many years in Maitland, MO. Her parents were Levi R. and Zelpha Webb Johnson, and preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Johnson, and three sisters, Anna Galbraith, Marie Duschka, and Elma Jane Sportsman.
Irene was a homemaker. She loved to crochet, put together puzzles and do word puzzles. She loved to cook and make jelly, and enjoyed taking care of her grandkids and great grandkids. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Maitland, MO.
On October 25, 1952, Irene was united in marriage to Richard Lee Bennett in Burlington Junction, MO. He survives of the home in Savannah.
Other survivors include her children; Susan, and husband Anthony Rauch, Oregon, MO, Rick and wife Debbie Bennett, Maryville, MO, and Terry and wife Marlyn Bennett, Worth, MO. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters; Lloyd and wife Joni Johnson, Florida, Harold and wife Irene Johnson, Florida, David and wife Sharon Johnson, Florida, Kay and husband Merlin Atkins, Maryville, MO, and Gerald and wife Paula Johnson, Omaha, NE. 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Irene’s wish was to be cremated. Her memorial service will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday, February 10, 2010 at the Maitland Cemetery, Maitland, MO. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Bram-Danfelt Funeral Home, Maryville, MO.
